Mood Art Studios (MAS) is a shared space that provides individual studios for professional makers.
MAS provides a creative environment and the tools and equipment for professional artists to produce works [from research to creation] in metals and mixed media. MAS is a 24/7 accessible studio, located in the heart of downtown Fredericton, where artists can rent individual affordable studio spaces, in a safe, stable, and inspiring environment, and connected to a community of artists to make a success of their practice.
Our Story
There is a significant and growing gap between artist training and access to professional facilities in the craft sector in New Brunswick. As art colleges and craft programs continue to graduate highly skilled artists, the availability of independent workspaces with the necessary equipment to explore, create and thrive remains limited. This is particularly acute in small and mid-sized cities like Fredericton, where the rental market has become increasingly costly due to the broader housing crisis, displacing artists from their studios or forcing them to work in makeshift environments that are often unsafe and unsustainable. Moreover, emerging artists seeking to professionalize their craft after graduation face the loss of a supportive community with whom they could share knowledge, network, inspire and support each other. The lack of access to studio space is compounded by the isolation felt by emerging artists making their dream to become full time artists much more challenging to achieve. Mood Art Studios has been created to fill this gap in the craft ecosystem: providing artists with an affordable, safe and professional studio space and a community.
